A precise map of the Grímsvötn area, as it looked on November 7th in 2004, is embroidered in a damask cloth. The contour lines are done in stem stitching and the crater which formed in a then recent eruption is sewn in red. The machine zig-zag stitch shows the survey lines from a research flight. Líndal has taken part in scientific expeditions, documenting the scientist´s work and research methods as well as collecting materials for her own artwork. This stitched map seals a merger of objective science and artistic creation.
