Location: Foldaskóli. This work is a 360 cm tall sculpture on a pedestal. “Fold” means land and the word “gná” can be interpreted as a woman. Thus, Foldagná could be interpreted as Mother Nature, rising high above everything, in this case high above the buildings around it. In spite of hard and unwieldy material, the column/sculpture is at once hard and soft. It is traditional in the sense that the artist is “dealing with form” as he himself puts it. “I try to call forth the images which are hidden in certain material,” he says. In the case of Foldagná, the material is metal. The centrepiece is a coil which is soft, unlike the material, almost fragile. The viewer senses that despite the strength of the metal, the artist has managed to elicit softness and curves.
