Ásmundur worked on setting up artworks in the music hall in Stockholm during the winter of 1925-26. The work inspired him to create the The Goddess of Song. This is how Ásmundur describes the work: "I have recently made a sketch in clay, which is the sound-goddess. It is a female body in the front, but a lion in the back. She runs in the air with an instrument, the strings are made of water, and she plays on them. The lion is meant to represent the strongest and most powerful in music, but the woman is the most delicate..."
