Location: Seljatjörn Ásmundur Sveinsson often sought inspiration from folktales, and such connections can be found in the work Mother Mine in the Pen, Pen. The piece depicts an abandoned child that‘s perished from exposure, appearing to its mother and offering her a loan of „its rags to dance in“. The form is simple, no details in the body of either the mother or the child, all that remains is what is needed to get the meaning across. The work shows an anguished mother and her dead child who appears to her.
