Ásmundur made Giantess in Reykjavík in 1948, the original version was made in concrete and obsidian. The sculpture was enlarged in 1975, and a cast installed in the Westman Islands later that year. Giantess makes little or no reference to reality; it represents the artist’s vision, though with some allusion to nature. Giantess comprises a mountain, rock and caves.
