Location: Háskólabíó. Owned by the University of Iceland. This work, which imitates basalt columns, is an installation, created from a specially blended concrete, and stained glass which is lit from within. It consists of four columns of different height, the smallest one is at a perfect height for sitting on. The columns refer to the pillars of our culture, in our society as in literature and poetry. They also contain a reference to the form of Háskólabíó’s new building, which the work is related to. Landsbankinn gave this artwork to the University of Iceland in 1990.
