Björgvin Sigurgeir was born at Haukaberg in Dýrafjörður in 1936. He is a painter, sculptor and art teacher, and also known for his writings on art. Björgvin Sigurgeir studied at The Icelandic College of Art and Crafts between 1958 and 1960, The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts 1959-61, and at the Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg 1961-62. He also studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry and State College of Education in Oslo 1970-71. Björgvin was a teacher at The Icelandic College of Art and Crafts from 1971. He held solo exhibitions in Unuhús, Reykjavík 1968, The Nordic House in 1975, and Kjarvalsstaðir 1986.
