Hildur has long been inspired by the writings of scholar-scientist Johan Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), as well as Henry David Thoreau. In this work she considers Goethe's theories presented in his book Die Metamorphose der Pflanzen in 1790, in which he describes the development of plants based on their leaf-shape, and their metamorphosis due to expansion or contraction. The huge diversity seen in leaf-forms and the process of fertilisation is an indicator of mysterious interaction.
